Overview
Located on the Yakima Valley College (YVC) campus, LINK Transition Center provides a student-centered, inclusive environment where participants can explore future opportunities and develop essential life skills. Students can enroll full-time or part-time, allowing for a flexible experience tailored to their individual needs and goals.
Minimum QualificationsA student who is being referred to LINK Transition Center for full or part-time enrollment:
- Is 18 - 22 years old
- Is receiving Special Education services
- Has a current IEP with Transition Plan, Evaluation, and High School and Beyond Plan (HSBP)
- Has had the opportunity to attend four years of high school
- Has been recommended by the Individualized Education Program (IEP) team
- Has met a Graduation Pathway





At LINK Transition Center, students engage in hands-on learning experiences that foster independence, community involvement, and essential life skills. Through a structured, student-centered approach, participants build confidence and gain real-world experience in various areas, including:
- Preparing breakfast and lunch
- Grocery shopping and meal planning
- Volunteering in the community
- Developing clerical and office skills
- Practicing independent living skills, such as laundry and household tasks
- Ordering food and navigating restaurant settings
- Learning how to use public transportation
- Participating in events and activities at Yakima Valley College (YVC)
- Exploring adult recreational activities and community engagement opportunities
These activities empower students to build self-sufficiency, enhance workplace readiness, and develop essential daily living skills for a successful transition beyond high school.
